Viu 1 is the result of men’s work and nature’s wisdom which, wilfully, blesses some of its cycles with exceptional conditions. This unique wine is produced from Centennial Malbec vines. A worthy tribute to the memory of who conceived it, Don Miguel Viu Manent. Viu 1 is made from the best Malbec grapes in Block 4 of Viu Manent San Carlos Estate vineyard located near Cunaco in the Colchagua Valley. This block was planted more than 100 years ago at a density of 4,464 plants per hectare. The soil of alluvial origin with a sandy-clay texture is deep, extraordinarily porous, and with very good drainage allowing exceptional root development. The quality of the expandable clay in the soil allows to water plants throughout the entire year, thereby encouraging ripening and preventing possible dehydration that affect grape quality.
