When norwegian armador (shipowner) Dan Odfjell founded our winery, he embarked upon an adventure filled with challenge and promise. “Orzada” is a nautical term for sailing up against the wind before setting a direction – our Orzada wines reflect our staking a course in pursuit of beautiful and memorable wines. This remarkable wine comes from very old, goblet-trained Carignan vines, from a dry-farmed vineyard with no irrigation and very low yields, thus ensuring a perfect combination of concentrated fruit and complexity in the wine. Most of the soil is clay-based and deep, with low fertility.
