In the bygone days of the sail ships, wine provided a safe drink for long voyages. Dan Odfjell, a norwegian “armador” (shipowner), perpetuates this legacy by making wines to sail from Chile across the seven seas.

Variety: Syrah
Viña Odfjell, Maipo Valley
Composition: 100% Syrah
Vintage: 2010

Pairing: This Syrah wine loves grilled or stewed red meats, lamb and strong, flavourful cheeses such as Roquefort and Gorgonzola. It goes very well with spicy dishes and robust sauces. Serve at 16-18°C (60-68°F).
Tasting notes:
Colour: Alluring black colour with deep violet reflections.
Aromas: The nose at first shows aromas of figs, redcurrants and ink offering a rich fruitiness to the wine. This is followed by scents of cloves, vanilla, smoked meat and a touch of toasted bread.
Palate: In the mouth it is a big and full bodied wine; fresh, juicy with touches of strawberries and cherries, and a pleasant acidity on the finish.
