We seek to bring out the full potential of the ancient vines at Neyen. The history, intensity and complexity of their fruit are woven into an elegant, balanced and textural blend of our winery’s emblematic varieties: Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon. Carménère, the main component of the blend, is complemented by the potency of Cabernet Sauvignon; together they allow us to capture the “Spirit of Apalta” in every bottle we make and to offer the finest wine possible. Neyen de Apalta terroir consists of a semi-arid Mediterranean climate, granitic soils, and a wide daily temperature range; conditions resulting in later-ripening grapes with better balance and elegance. The original high-density vineyards planted more than 120 years ago with cuttings  that the original owners brought with them directly from Bordeaux have deep root systems that do not require irrigation. Seventy-five acres of the original Carménère and Cabernet Sauvignon provide the foundation for Neyen.
